The Roshan family's artistic legacy traces back to Roshan Lal Nagrath, born in 1917 in Gujranwala, Punjab Province, British India. He mastered the sarod under Ustad Alauddin Khan and joined All India Radio, where he met Ira Moitra. Roshan Lal Nagrath and Ira had two children, Rajesh and Rakesh Roshan, who further enriched the artistic lineage of the Roshan family.
