Dev Anand shot the Hindi, English 'Guide' separately

In an era dominated by narratives of heartbreak and societal norms, Dev Anand emerged as a magnetic anti-hero, instilling a sense of optimism in Hindi cinema. His iconic cap and charismatic smile symbolized a blend of tradition and modernity, whether he played a carefree cab driver or a suave con artist on a quest for redemption. Amidst his prolific career, Dev Anand encountered numerous memorable moments, one of which sheds light on an interesting trivia about his blockbuster film "Guide." During the filming of a romantic Holi song in Udaipur, locals enthusiastically joined the shoot, but a dispute between the director and cinematographer resulted in missing out on capturing their spontaneous reaction. Determined not to miss such moments again, Dev Anand opted to film the Hindi and English versions of "Guide" separately. Directed by Vijay Anand, the Hindi version featured the iconic song "Piya To Se Naina Lage Re," celebrating various festivals including Holi and Diwali.
