The ED is now set to scrutinize the financial records of all blockbuster Malayalam films produced in Kerala over the past five years, including detailed information on production costs and revenue figures. This investigation was triggered by two filmmakers who reported alleged black money transactions within Kerala's theatre sector. In 2024, the Malayalam film industry experienced a significant boom, with box office collections reaching Rs 720 crore in just the first five months.
