Prabhas' latest film, 'Kalki 2898 AD', released on June 27, has garnered significant praise for its captivating storyline and stellar performances. The movie, shot between July 2021 and March 2024, faced a delay due to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections before finally hitting theaters. Featuring Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama and Deepika Padukone as Sumathi, Deepika's portrayal has been especially lauded by audiences, contributing to the film's success. Initially considering Pooja Hegde for the role of Sumathi, following their collaboration in 'Radhe Shyam', the filmmakers opted for Deepika Padukone after Hegde's performance received mixed reviews. This decision was well-received by Prabhas' dedicated fan base. With strong box office performance, analysts predict 'Kalki 2898 AD' could soon cross the Rs 1000 crore mark globally. The film blends sci-fi and mythology, starring Prabhas as Bhairava, a bounty hunter, and Deepika Padukone as SUM-80, a pregnant test subject, alongside a stellar cast including Disha Patani and cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, and Dulquer Salmaan. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is set 6,000 years after the Mahabharata's Kurukshetra war, drawing inspiration from Hindu scriptures.
