Initially, Kareena Kapoor was set to star, but was replaced due to differences between her mother, Babita Kapoor, and director Rakesh Roshan. Despite not debuting together, Hrithik and Kareena later shared great chemistry in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
