Sooraj Barjatya cast Shahid Kapoor in 'Vivah' instead of Salman Khan because he felt Salman didn’t look innocent enough and was too old for the role. After the failure of 'Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon', Salman expressed interest in collaborating again, but Sooraj didn't have a suitable story at that time.
