Karla Sofía Gascón, the Oscar-nominated transgender actor, apologized for past social media posts denigrating Islam and George Floyd. Her deactivated X account had resurfaced posts from 2016 and 2020. Gascón, Netflix's “Emilia Pérez” star, made history with her nomination. Such old tweets have previously haunted celebrities, though many, such as James Gunn and Trevor Noah, have rebounded.
