Ranya’s stepfather questioned in gold smuggling case
Tuesday, 18 March 2025 Kannada actor Ranya Rao’s stepfather, Ramachandra Rao, a high-ranking officer in Karnataka, is under investigation for allegedly aiding in a gold smuggling operation. An inquiry led by IAS officer Gaurav Gupta is set to conclude soon. Ramachandra Rao, who has been placed on compulsory leave, denies any involvement. Ranya Rao claims she was threatened and deprived of basic needs in custody and asserts that her father is being falsely implicated. The final report will be submitted shortly.
