'I like to be surprised': Sir Ian McKellen says he is not a fan of mollycoddling theatre audiences
Tuesday, 26 September 2023 Sir Ian McKellen has said he is not a fan of how modern theatre audiences are mollycoddled with warning signs pandering to sensitivities.
After spending years as a leading LGBTQ+ campaigner, Sir Ian McKellen has revealed his despair that some of the world’s most famous footballers are too scared to come out of the closet.
An eye-witness describes the moment Sir Ian McKellen fell of the stage during a performance of Player Kings at the Noel Coward Theatre on Monday evening.
Charlie Johnson, who was sitting in the front row, said it appeared the actor lost his footing before screaming in pain for help.
The theatre has since confirmed Sir Ian is in 'good spirits' and is expected to 'make a speedy and full recovery'.
