Labour promises COBRA-style taskforce as weather warnings issued for Scotland
Thursday, 26 October 2023 The Labour Party has promised to set up a COBRA-style taskforce that would meet every winter to assess the flood risk to communities as parts of the UK continue to be battered by heavy rain after Storm Babet.
James Cleverly said the government have been too slow to act following the riots throughout the UK. The shadow home secretary said: "It is right that the people involved in this will feel the full force of the law. They should have got Cobra up and running much earlier than they have done but it's important now that they send a message that this action is unacceptable."
