'Snow showers' set to hit parts of UK as Met Office issues ice warning
Sunday, 7 January 2024 "A mix of snow showers and sleet" is forecast for parts of the UK as a yellow warning for ice comes into effect in the early hours of today, the Met Office has said.
The Met Office has issued a red weather warning for parts of Wales and south west England, urging residents to stay indoors as Storm Darragh brings over 90 mph winds. Residents in South Wales saw damage caused by fallen trees with thousands also affected by power cuts. Report by Etemadil. Disruption caused by Storm Bert continues into Monday with at least two people confirmed dead after "devastating" flooding over the weekend.
The last of the Met Officeβs rain warnings ended at 11.59pm on Sunday but strong winds persist and rain from high ground will reach rivers, which could disrupt clean-up efforts.
More than 200 flood alerts remain in place for England and Wales with travel issues set to continue into the week.
