Elon Musk's SpaceX is building spy satellite network for US intelligence agency
Saturday, 16 March 2024 SpaceX is building a network of hundreds of spy satellites under a classified contract with a U.S. intelligence agency, five sources familiar with the program said, demonstrating deepening ties between billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's space company and national security agencies.
SpaceX's Starshield program spy satellite network will consist of hundreds of low-Earth orbiting satellites with Earth-imaging capabilities that can operate as a sat-swarm. SpaceX's contract with the NRO, signed in 2021, totals $1.8 billion.
