Thursday, 28 March 2024 Maundy Thursday is a major fixture on the royal calendar - but this year the Queen will step in for King Charles during the ancient service.
King Charles feels a "great sadness" at not being able to attend the Maundy Thursday service but has wished the nation a pleasant Easter in a rare public address.
The King and Queen gave a birthday card to a woman celebrating her 100th birthday in Middlesborough. King Charles and Queen Camilla handed Rona Grafton the birthday card in an envelope, wishing her "a very, very happy birthday". The meeting was part of their Majesties' royal visit to Middlesborough where they carried out numerous engagements.
