Sunak 'incredibly angry' over election date betting allegations
Thursday, 20 June 2024 Rishi Sunak has said he is "incredibly angry" to learn of allegations that Tory candidates placed bets on the election date, calling it a "very serious matter".
The scandal surfaced after reports on Wednesday that one of Sunak's police bodyguards had been arrested for allegedly betting on the election date before it was announced.
The Tories have criticised the government for not being “quicker” with talks about tariffs imposed by the US.
