Fugitive separatist returns to Spain and makes speech before giving police the slip
Thursday, 8 August 2024 The fugitive former leader of Catalonia's independence movement has teased Spanish police by coming to Barcelona and making a speech to supporters before disappearing, triggering a manhunt.
The European Court of Justice has backed former European Parliament president Antonio Tajani's decision not to recognise Catalan separatist leader Carles Puigdemont as an MEP, ruling that Tajani "merely did what he was required to do."
