Monday, 23 September 2024 Ministers are in talks with tech leaders about how to give local media a "fair hearing online", Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has said.
Lisa Nandy says there is a "culture of silence" in the TV industry and a "power imbalance" between executives and those starting out in their careers. Her comments come after an ITV News investigation found more than 40 people claimed to have witnessed or experienced inappropriate behaviour from TV chef Gino D'Acampo. The culture secretary says it is "devastating" that many young people do not have the skills required to work in creative industries. Lisa Nandy has announced the launch of the Arts Everywhere Fund, which will invest more than Β£270 million in creative industries.
