Row over how many farms will be affected by inheritance tax policy - as PM doubles down
Monday, 18 November 2024 Sir Keir Starmer has insisted the "vast majority of farmers" will not be affected by changes to Inheritance Tax (IHT) ahead of a protest outside parliament on Tuesday.
The policing minister has defended the government's decision to impose Inheritance Tax on farms worth over £1 million. Sir Keir Starmer has rejected the suggestion that the UK would have to choose between a closer trade deal with the EU and a free trade agreement with the US. The Prime Minister told the Liaison Committee "we can pursue both" and that he is ensuring a "good relationship" with incoming president Trump.
