Mayotte hit by new storm just weeks after devastating cyclone
Sunday, 12 January 2025 A fresh tropical storm has struck Mayotte in the Indian Ocean just weeks after a deadly cyclone which killed at least 39 people and left more than 200 still missing.
Less than a month after the ravages of cyclone Chido, residents of Mbouini are coping with downpours and flooding in Mayotte, due to tropical storm Dikeledi, which killed three people in Madagascar.
Cleanup efforts in Mayotte are ongoing after Cyclone Chido hit the region two weeks ago. Household waste was collected for the first time since the storm, though the responsible public body has yet to resume its operations.
