Terrifying spectre hangs over ambiguous Gaza ceasefire deal

Officials from key mediators in a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel say that a landmark agreement has been reached to pause the 15-month war in the Gaza Strip. Israel has said the deal is in its final stages.
Under the deal reached Wednesday, 33 hostages are set to be released over the next six weeks in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel, according to reports.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has raised concerns over the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement, claiming that Hamas has violated key terms of the deal. The agreement, brokered with mediation by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar, was intended to halt hostilities, facilitate prisoner exchanges, and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. However, Netanyahu's office accused Hamas of creating a "last-minute crisis" by reneging on commitments, including vetoing the release of Palestinian prisoners convicted of murder.
