Congress divided Northeast for 70 years, PM Modi uniting region: Himanta Biswa Sarma
Tuesday, 1 August 2023 Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the convener of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) has launched a frontal attack on the Congress and alleged that due to its divide and rule policy, the Northast had suffered imbalanced development, political instability and geographical isolation for 70 years. However, he said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has focused extensively on connecting and uniting the region. In a long thread of 11 tweets, Sarma said the PM was not connecting the Northeast physically but also emotionally.
Delhi police on Saturday detained former personal secretary of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Bibhav Kumar, in connection with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal assault case. In her complaint to the police, Maliwal alleged Kumar attacked her at Kejriwal’s residence on May 14 with “full force, slapping and kicking her in the chest and abdomen.” According to National Commission For Women (NCW) Chairperson Rekha Sharma, Kumar was ‘arrested’ from Kejriwal’s home.
