The Haryana government argued that it followed the correct procedures during its demolition of "illegally-constructed" buildings in Nuh. The state's Additional Advocate General, Deepak Sabharwal, stated that the process was "not at all a case of ethnic cleansing and the government never works like this." A bench of Justices Arun Palli and Jagmohan Bansal referred the case to the chief justice's court as per the High Court's rules. Meanwhile, no stay has been issued on the demolition drive.
