Bengaluru Bandh today: Transport unions to oppose 'shakti scheme', authorities on alert
Monday, 11 September 2023 Private vehicle owners and drivers have called for a Bandh in Bengaluru city opposing the Shakti scheme, which is one of the five government guarantees and provides free travel to women on government buses.
Bengaluru's ongoing monsoon has severely waterlogged at least 180 prominent roads, including key areas near Hebbal Circle and the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Despite previous warnings, including a fatal incident at the KR Circle underpass, municipal authorities have failed to address the issue. Ongoing construction projects, pothole-ridden roads, and poor drainage maintenance contribute to the problem. The situation has led to traffic chaos, vehicle damage, and safety hazards across the city.
