Expelled Indian diplomat Punjab cadre IPS officer with RAW stint

Canada has expelled Indian diplomat Pavan Kumar Rai, accusing India of having a "potential link" to the murder of a pro-Khalistan terrorist in Canada. Rai, a senior IPS officer, had been on deputation with the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) since 2010. Canada has a history of denying visas to Indian police and paramilitary personnel who served in Punjab during the period of militancy, due to allegations of human rights violations. Several other officers have previously been denied visas by Canadian authorities.
