JD(S) formally joins NDA; HDK says talks on LS seat-sharing after Dasara

The Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) has officially joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The decision was announced by BJP chief JP Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah after a meeting with former JD(S) CM HD Kumaraswamy. Discussions on seat-sharing will be finalized after the Dasara festival. JD(S) suffered a decline in the May state elections, prompting talks of a pre-poll alliance with the BJP. Some Muslim leaders within JD(S) are unhappy with the alliance.
