With house-hunters in upgrade mode, supply of 1-BHKs shrinks in Mumbai

IndiaTimes Monday, 25 September 2023
The demand for studio apartments in Mumbai is declining, with the number of projects offering these compact units falling from 115 to 71 in just one year. Experts attribute this shift to lifestyle changes, remote working, and the desire for larger units and amenities. The trend is reflected in the decreasing demand for 1BHK apartments, which now account for only 27% of the total demand and supply across cities in India. Buyers are increasingly opting for 2BHK apartments, which accommodate their evolving needs and offer better profits for builders.
