Fraud in Ahmedabad: Three cases every 2 days

The number of fraud cases in Ahmedabad has been increasing over the past three years, with 587 cases reported in 2021-22 and a slight decrease to 537 cases in 2022-23. Online fraud accounted for nearly 40% of the total complaints registered statewide, followed by land-related fraud, check bounce cases, and ATM cheating. The amount lost in these cases rose by 80% from 2020-21 to 2021-22. Cybercrime cases in Gujarat have seen a significant increase of 235% in the past five years, with 1,536 cases reported in 2021.
