Delhi LG V K Saxena's nod to try Arundhati Roy for ‘provocative speech’

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 10 October 2023
Writer Arundhati Roy and former professor Sheikh Showkat Hussain are facing prosecution for delivering provocative speeches at a public event in Delhi in 2010. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has given sanction for their prosecution under sections of the Indian Penal Code. The case was registered in 2010, and two other accused have since died. The LG also noted that despite a case of sedition being made out, sanction had not been granted due to a Supreme Court order. A complaint was filed against the accused for promoting the separation of Kashmir from India.
