Madhya Pradesh: Not just 60%, netas with 25% votes too tasted victory in 2018

IndiaTimes Thursday, 12 October 2023
In the 2018 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, some candidates were able to win their seats despite receiving only 25% of the total votes. For example, Rambai Govind Singh of BSP won with 23.94% votes, while Surendra Singh Honey Baghel of Congress won with 65.63% votes. This shows that factors such as vote division or the presence of strong candidates from fringe parties can influence election outcomes. Additionally, candidates like Ramlally Vaishya and Nagendra Singh won despite receiving less than 30% of the votes.
