Proposed H-1B rule: Each individual to be entered once to curb gaming of lottery system

IndiaTimes Saturday, 21 October 2023
The US Department of Homeland Security and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services have released proposed rules to modernize the H-1B program. One significant proposal aims to curb the misuse of the H-1B cap lottery system by limiting the number of registrations that can be submitted on behalf of an individual. The current process allows for multiple registrations, increasing the chances of selection. The proposed rules also seek to redefine the definition of a specialty occupation and give beneficiaries more autonomy in choosing their employer if selected. The rules will undergo a 60-day public comment period before being finalized and implemented.
