Sunday, 22 October 2023 Home Minister Amit Shah stated that 188 police personnel sacrificed their lives in the line of duty between September 2022 and August 2023. He credited the efforts of the police for reducing incidents of terrorism, left-wing extremism, northeast insurgency, and ethnic violence by 65% from their peak levels.
