This durga temple opens only for Navratri, shut for rest of year
Monday, 23 October 2023 A small Durga temple in Paralakhemundi, Odisha, is open for only nine days a year during Navratri celebrations. The temple, known as Dandamaramma in Telugu and Dandu Maa in Odia, attracts devotees from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The temple remains closed on other days of the year, and the reason for this practice is unknown. Before closing the temple, a coconut is offered to the deity, which remains intact until the next year. The coconut is then distributed among the devotees during Navratri.
