Drama in MP as mantri files papers 'to take on' daughter

IndiaTimes Friday, 27 October 2023
Gaurishankar Bisen, a veteran BJP leader and chairman of the Backward Classes Commission, surprised many by filing his nomination from the Balaghat seat, where the party had already given the ticket to his daughter, Mausam. Bisen claimed that he filed the nomination as a "cover" because Mausam was unwell and out of town. The party denied any change in candidate and said that Bisen filed as a dummy candidate. Balaghat is considered to be Bisen's stronghold where he has never lost an election since 1985.
