Scores of BTech holders and graduates in Kerala's Ernakulam queued up to apply for a government office peon job, despite requiring only a Class 7 qualification and the ability to ride a bicycle. The job offers a monthly salary of around Rs 23,000 and is seen as more secure than gig economy jobs. The cycling test is still a requirement, although it serves no practical purpose, and 101 candidates have cleared the test and now face an endurance test.
