IndiaTimes Saturday, 28 October 2023
The National Monuments Authority (NMA) has released draft heritage bye-laws for the site of the Palace of Asoka in Bihar. The site, located in the Kumrahar area of Patna, is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The excavation findings date back to 600 BCE and include the ruins of an 80-pillared hall. The NMA's responsibilities include the protection and preservation of monuments and granting permissions for construction-related activities in the prohibited and regulated area around the monuments. The draft bye-laws aim to conserve and develop the site.
