Odisha: Once poachers, they now help forest department nab hunters

IndiaTimes Sunday, 29 October 2023
Former notorious poachers, Satyaban Sahu and Raghupati Dharua, have transformed their lives and are now working as informers for the forest department to combat poaching in the Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary in India. They provide valuable information about poachers and snares, helping prevent wildlife crimes. Satyaban also works as a gatekeeper, while Raghupati contributes his carpentry skills. Both men wanted to leave their poacher past behind for the sake of their children's future and now earn a living through ecotourism activities and conservation efforts.
