1.68 lakh people died in 4.61 lakh road accidents in 2022: Road ministry report

According to a report by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, there were 461,312 road accidents in India in 2022, resulting in 168,491 fatalities and 443,366 injuries. This represents an 11.9% increase in accidents and a 9.4% increase in deaths compared to the previous year. The report also reveals that a significant number of accidents and fatalities occurred on national highways, state highways, and other roads. The data was collected from police departments across the country.
