Election Commission inks MoU to take electoral literacy to classrooms
Thursday, 2 November 2023 Keen to take electoral literacy to the classrooms, the Election Commission on Thursday entered into a memorandum of understanding with the ministry of education to groom school and college students to be informed, enlightened and responsible voters in the future. The MoU seeks to systematically integrate voters' education and lessons on electoral literacy into the curricular framework for classes 6-12 at school level and also across all colleges and universities, where it will be tailored to suit different disciplines.

On April 28, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise the content of its Lok Sabha campaign song to adhere to the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. Further, the said phrase appears several times in the advertisement which contravenes the provisions of ECI Guidelines and Rule 6(1(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994” (DISPLAY) said ECI.
