The relationship between the two countries deteriorated after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged Indian involvement in the killing of a Khalistani terrorist. India rejected the allegations and called them absurd. Jaishankar emphasized that sovereignty and sensitivity cannot be one-way streets and expressed hope for a resolution. Canada has withdrawn 41 diplomats from India, and visa services have recently been resumed.
