NDRF discovers chemicals at site of pharma plant blast that claimed 8 lives

The discovery of barrels of several chemicals, including the highly flammable toluene, by the NDRF at a pharmaceutical firms plant in the extended MIDC in Mahad, where eight workers died in a series of blasts and a fire, prompted the Raigad collector on Sunday to seek from the company a list of chemicals stored at the site, reports Umesh K Parida. Collector Yogesh Mhase sought the information from Blue Jet Healthcare, which manufactures at the unit phenyl sulfate that can be used in diabetes therapies, under Disaster Management Act following the NDRF's recommendation.
