Nod sought for contempt case against Uddhav Thackeray

IndiaTimes Thursday, 9 November 2023
A journalist has filed a contempt petition against Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray for his derogatory remarks towards Chief Justice DY Chandrachud in a Dussehra speech. The journalist alleges that Thackeray's comments are an attempt to influence pending cases in the Supreme Court and undermine the dignity of the court and the CJI's office. He has sought the attorney general's permission to file the petition, stating that Thackeray's statements amount to criminal contempt under the Contempt of Court Act.
