Saturday, 11 November 2023 Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has directed the circulation and publication of three reports on proposed bills titled 'The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023', 'The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023', and 'The Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023'. These bills aim to replace the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively. Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the objective of these new laws is to protect the rights of Indian citizens and provide justice rather than punishment.
