2,000 people from Myanmar cross over to India as intense gunfight rock Chin state

IndiaTimes Monday, 13 November 2023
Over 2,000 Myanmar nationals have crossed the international border into India's Mizoram state in the past 24 hours due to a gunfight between Myanmar's ruling junta-backed forces and the People's Defence Force (PDF) militia group. The PDF attacked two military bases near the Indian border, prompting the influx of people seeking shelter in India. A civilian in India was killed by a stray bullet during the fighting. The majority of the Myanmar nationals in Mizoram are from the Chin community, which shares ethnic ties with the Mizos.
