Tuesday, 14 November 2023 Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Congress party for demanding a caste census, pointing out that they did not conduct one when they were in power. He accused the Congress of only wanting to conduct a caste census now because they know they are losing their traditional vote bank. Other parties in the INDIA alliance have also called for a caste census, while the BJP-led government claims it would create division in society. The Congress party has vowed to conduct a caste census if voted to power in Chhattisgarh.
