Global greenhouse gas emissions reached a new record, increasing by 1.2% in 2021, according to a report by the UN Environment Programme. The report warns that the world is on track to experience a temperature rise of 2.5-2.9 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century. The US, with only 4% of the global population, contributed 17% of global warming from 1850 to 2021. Meanwhile, India with 18% of the population only contributed only 5%.
