Rescue operation in the Silkyara tunnel to evacuate workers was halted temporarily due to a snag with the auger drilling machine. Sources told TOI that the platform on which the auger machine has been mounted, got destabilised after developing some cracks. “Technical teams have been working non-stop to stabilise the 25-tonne platform on which the machine is mounted,” the sources said, adding that drilling is likely to start only after the platform is completely stabilised.
