Tamil Nadu: 12 fishermen reach Chennai after being released by Sri Lanka

Twelve Indian fishermen, released from Sri Lankan jail, reached Chennai on Friday. Another group of 15 fishermen arrived in Rameshwaram on Thursday after their release. In total, 64 fishermen from Rameshwaram and Mandapam were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for cross-border fishing. Efforts by the Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister led to the release of 63 fishermen. One fisherman was not released as he was caught a second time and sentenced to two years in prison.
