The Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over Canada consistently providing space to anti-India extremists, urging the Canadian government to abide by the Vienna Convention. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called on India to cooperate in the investigation of the killing of designated terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Colombia's Surrey. The US has also filed an indictment against an Indian for involvement in a plot to assassinate a Sikh Separatist Movement leader.
