Declared 'dead & cremated', man found alive 4 days later

A family in Udham Singh Nagar district mistakenly cremated a man they believed was their dead relative, only to find out later that he was alive. Naveen Chandra Bhatt, a resident of Sripur Bichwa in Khatima town, was wrongly presumed dead and his funeral took place at Banbasa Ghat in Champawat district. The confusion arose when a man from Rudrapur died and was mistakenly identified as Naveen due to the presence of his photograph and medical check-up form in the deceased's pocket. Naveen's family discovered the mistake when a family acquaintance informed them that he had seen Naveen alive in Rudrapur.
