India keeping close tabs on China-Pak collusion in the IOR, revising plans: Navy chief
Friday, 1 December 2023 India updates plans to counter China's expanding naval presence in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). China has a sustained presence in the IOR with 6-8 warships at any given time, in addition to research vessels and fishing vessels. Pakistan is expanding its Navy with China's help. India constantly revises its plans and capability-development programs in response to these developments. The Indian Navy aims to have 175 warships with increased aircraft and helicopters by 2035.
In a historic move, on Friday, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, announced that the Indian Navy has appointed its first woman commanding officer on a naval ship. This groundbreaking decision reflects the Navy's commitment to diversity and gender equality.

The Bannu military cantonment in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, located over 330 km east of Islamabad, came under a severe attack early on Monday (July 15). The assault, reportedly led by several suicide bombers, resulted in a prolonged gunbattle with security forces. The militant group Jaish Fursan-e-Muhammad, a faction of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur, claimed responsibility for the attack. According to Pakistani state media, the incident began when the assailants attempted to breach the cantonment’s security perimeter with an explosive-laden vehicle.

The Shehbaz Sharif-led government in Pakistan has decided to ban the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, the country's Information Minister announced on Monday.
