Aditya-L1 unveils insights into solar wind dynamics

IndiaTimes Saturday, 2 December 2023
India's Aditya-L1 satellite has marked a significant milestone as the Aditya Solar wind Particle Experiment (ASPEX) payload initiated its operations, shedding light on the mysteries of solar wind, Isro said on Saturday. "The SWIS instrument, activated on November 2, has demonstrated optimal performance in measuring solar wind ions, notably protons and alpha particles. With two sensor units providing a remarkable 360° field of view each, SWIS operates in perpendicular planes, offering detailed insights into solar wind behaviour," Isro said.

Kerala's Landslide Risks: Kerala's 10 districts among top 30 most landslide-prone in India |OneIndia

Ten of the total 14 districts in Kerala are among the 30 most landslide-prone districts in the country, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) noted in its 2023 report, raising alarm over the increasing vulnerability of the Western Ghats. But it has not slowed down the pace of development in the sensitive region, setting it up for one disaster after another, experts say. The risk assessment led by the Hyderabad-based National Remote Sensing Centre ranked Thrissur third among the most vulnerable districts after Rudraprayag and Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand. #climate #keralalandslide #ScienceWise #Wayanad #mostlandslideproneareas #mostlandslidedistrictsinindia #oneindia #oneendianews ~PR.320~ED.194~HT.95~
